Welcome to the San Diego County Pharmacists Association (SDCPhA), a local chapter of the California Pharmacists Association! We are proud to represent and support pharmacists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy allies in San Diego County.
SDCPhA’s mission is to provide connection and resources to the local pharmacy community and promote the profession of pharmacy in San Diego. In service of this mission, we aim to provide continuing education, arrange social events, be a political voice for pharmacy, promote the integrity and pride of the profession, and advocate for patient care.

The 2025 Board

RACHEL SPERLING (PRESIDENT)
Rachel Sperling, PharmD graduated from UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2010 and completed a Community Residency at USC in 2011. For the past 10 years, she has worked for the Sharp Community Medical Group. Her duties include medication therapy management, gaps in care reviews targeting health plan quality metrics, and prior authorization reviews for injectable medications. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time walking, playing tabletop games, doing puzzles, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

COURTNEY WOO (PRESIDENT-ELECT)
Dr. Courtney Woo, PharmD, is a passionate healthcare leader with over a decade of experience in pharmacy, patient education, and medical advocacy. She received the 2023 John F. Schlegel Leadership Award for her work in intensive care, natural medicine, and equitable healthcare. She leads initiatives focused on sustainability within the pharmaceutical industry, advancing environmentally responsible practices and community health. Courtney has held multiple leadership roles with the American Pharmacists Association, California Pharmacists Association, and Phi Delta Chi, supporting over 140 student chapters and developing leadership workshops. A former business owner and award-winning communicator, she blends clinical expertise with marketing, team leadership, and a deep commitment to social and environmental impact. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, creating art, and volunteering in her community.

ANTHONY HARRISON ( Interim-SECRETARY)
Anthony Harrison, PharmD, APh, BCPS, BCCCP is a medical science liaison with AstraZeneca in the Respiratory and Immunology therapeutic area. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2013 and completed a PGY1 at UAB Hospital in 2014. Prior to his role as an MSL, Anthony worked as an inpatient pharmacist at Lifespan, an academic medical center in Providence, RI. His interests include ICU and Emergency Medicine. Outside of work, Anthony enjoys spending time outside at the beach, playing soccer and skiing, and exploring different SD restaurants.

DAVID B. (TREASURER)
David B., APh, BCOP graduated from the University of the Pacific in 2001 and has been practicing in San Diego County for 21 years, currently working as a staff pharmacist for Scripps. He enjoys working with and precepting student local pharmacists. In his free time, David enjoys playing with his kids and running.

PAUL DWORK (BOARD MEMBER)
Pharmacist, Magician, Inventor
Each area complements the other by opening up many opportunities. I have many patents, trademarks, and continue to be an innovator, and make magic with all I do. I have also been to Medi-cal in Sacramento, as well as Medicare Committee Meetings Back East. Paul Graduated University of Utah Pharmacy School in 1975 and got his Doctor of Pharmacy from Oxford. I have been in Private Practice for 45 years, and my Pharmacy continues to provide essential needs to patients.
Accomplishments:
International Medical Design Excellence Award for my patented Male Urinary Incontinence Device. Developed and Patented a Drug Delivery Device, MistAssist, which Kimberly Clark now owns.
Built Rehab House in my Pharmacy, written up in Pharmacy Magazines, and acquired by CR Bard in 1982 which became Shield HealthCare.
Filmed an Educational TV Program, Merlin’s World, whose premise was the World of Science as seen through the eyes of Merlin the Magician. I own the registered Trademark for the name Merlin.
Have supported Make a Wish Foundation with my Magic.
My accomplishments and ideas were innovated by meeting people in my Pharmacy, which motivated to me to invent products for improving the quality of life.
I want to share my experiences, and have raised over a million dollars for charities doing my magic!
There are no limits on what anyone can achieve.

Cherry B. (BOARD MEMBER)
Cherry B., Pharm.D. graduated from the University of the Pacific - Thomas J. Long
School of Pharmacy in 2003 and has practiced in the San Diego community setting for
over two decades. Her professional interests are in medication therapy management,
diabetes and preventative healthcare. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, piano,
swimming, and spending time with family and friends.

Esha Badhesha (BOARD MEMBER)
I am currently a P1 at University of California San Diego, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and
Pharmaceutical Sciences. I recently graduated from Fresno State with a B.A. in Chemistry. My
pharmacy interests include pediatrics and diabetes, however I am open to exploring other areas
of the field as well. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy baking desserts and spending time
outdoors!

JENNY TRAN (STUDENT LIAISON)
Jenny is currently a P1 at UC San Diego’s Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where she previously earned her BS in Human Biology with a minor in Global Health. Her current pharmacy interests include pediatrics, cardiology, and emergency medicine, though she is open to exploring other areas as well. Right now, Jenny is learning more about retail and inpatient pharmacy settings through her roles at Walmart Pharmacy and Sharp Grossmont Hospital. When Jenny is not working or in class, she loves staying active, spending time outdoors, and baking.

Cathy Lam (IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT)
Cathy Lam is a Pharmacist with Ralphs Pharmacy. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Colorado and Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Denver. She has worked for Ralphs since 2017 and shares the company's vision of helping people live healthier lives.
